The third annual Texas Brass Festival, bringing together brass musicians from across the region will take place this weekend amid the outstanding amenities of the Carroll Performing Arts Center in Southlake, Texas.
Competitors
Seven bands from Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas will compete in what promised to be an exciting for a weekend of music, competition, and celebration. The adjudicators are David Childs, Amanda Drinkwater and Suzanne Dell.
Austin Brass Band; Dallas Brass Band; Frontier Brass Band; Houston Brass Band; Natural State Brass Band; San Antonio Brass Band and Tulsa Brass Band will compete in an event that will be scored according to NABBA guidelines.
There will be awards for best march, runner-up best march, and similar awards for best slow melody. Additionally, outstanding soloists will be named and receive certificates at the end of the festival.
Youth bands
In addition to seven adult bands, two youth bands will perform in the morning before rehearsing together ahead of an appearance at the conclusion of the festival. This mass ensemble will combine nearly 70 high school and middle school students under the direction of conductor Michael J Garasi.
