Texas Brass Festival attracts bands for exciting weekend

Seven senior bands plus two youth bands will perform at the third annual Texas Brass Festival — and it will be live streamed.

  It promises to be an exciting weekend of music making in Texas

The third annual Texas Brass Festival, bringing together brass musicians from across the region will take place this weekend amid the outstanding amenities of the Carroll Performing Arts Center in Southlake, Texas.

Competitors

Seven bands from Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas will compete in what promised to be an exciting for a weekend of music, competition, and celebration. The adjudicators are David Childs, Amanda Drinkwater and Suzanne Dell.

Austin Brass Band; Dallas Brass Band; Frontier Brass Band; Houston Brass Band; Natural State Brass Band; San Antonio Brass Band and Tulsa Brass Band will compete in an event that will be scored according to NABBA guidelines.

There will be awards for best march, runner-up best march, and similar awards for best slow melody. Additionally, outstanding soloists will be named and receive certificates at the end of the festival.

Youth bands

In addition to seven adult bands, two youth bands will perform in the morning before rehearsing together ahead of an appearance at the conclusion of the festival. This mass ensemble will combine nearly 70 high school and middle school students under the direction of conductor Michael J Garasi.

Chinnor Silver

March 22 • Our COMMUNITY BAND is meeting on Monday (24th) and would welcome players of all abilities to join us for a relaxed rehearsal with coffee and cake.Its just a chance for an extra blow that doesn't affect you affiliation to your existing bands.
