Croy Silver Band is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
Founded in 1875, the North Lanarkshire band has been at the heart of the local community for generations, bringing music to audiences across Scotland and beyond on the concert and contest stage.
Provost support
To celebrate the milestone, North Lanarkshire Council Provost Kenneth Duffy and Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey visited during a rehearsal at the village's Antonine Sports Hub to congratulate them on the achievement and to find out more about their current and future endeavours.
These have included winning the Third Section Scottish Championship title and going on to come third at the 2024 National Final at Cheltenham.
Milestone
In praising the band, Provost Duffy said: "Reaching 150 years is an extraordinary milestone, and Croy Silver Band should be incredibly proud of its legacy.
Their success on the national stage reflects the dedication and talent of its members, and I have no doubt the band will continue to thrive for years to come."
Special occasion
In response, MD Kenneth Blackwood said: "We are honoured to celebrate 150 years of Croy Silver Band and to share this special occasion.
Our focus now is on continuing our rich tradition of brass banding, competing at the Scottish Championships in March and performing for our local community. With a year full of celebrations, competitions and engagements ahead, we are looking forward to an action packed anniversary."
