The Coalburn Brass Band organisation recently enjoyed their annual presentation evening where a plethora of well-deserved awards were made.

Beth Damer

The Beth Damer Memorial Award was first presented two years ago and was commissioned by the family following the tragic death of their much loved and hugely respected daughter, who died just days before her 21st birthday.

The organisation's committee vote on the recipient and took into account the comments that came with the nominations linked to Beth's ethos of determination, empathy, endeavour, helping others, spirit and teamwork.

Bowman

The choice this year was Coalburn Senior Band MD, Gareth Bowman who was presented with the award by Daniel Beadle on behalf of the Damer family.

The presentation was also highlighted by some of the comments made about Gareth's inspirational commitment to the organisation with numerous accolades about his commitment, empathy, work ethic, support and leadership.

The evening also saw the official launch of 'Apolonia', the new work from composer Paul Lovatt-Cooper written in tribute to Beth4BR
