Set work delight for Euro publishers

The four new works featured at the Europeans in Stavanger will be available to study and then perform across the world.

The four works will receive their premiere at Stavanger Concert Hall

The publishers of the four set-works for this year's European Championships have told 4BR that there will be study scores of each composition for the audience to purchase at Stavanger Concert Hall.

They have also confirmed that the works will also be available for bands to purchase themselves after the event.

Response

Speaking to 4BR Tomas Austestad of Norsk Musikkforlag said: "We have been delighted by the response of the competing bands to the quality of the music and the scores and parts we have produced.

'Transitions in Energy' by Fredrick Schjelderup, 'Embracing Duality' by Ingebjørg Vilhelmsen, 'Northern Passages' by Kjetil Djønne, and 'Four Brief Actions' by Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen are fine representations of Norway's brass band heritage and evolving musical identity.

These works showcase both innovation and artistic diversity, as well as the depth of talent within Norsk Musikkforlag's roster of Norwegian composers contributing to the European brass band movement."

Very proud

He added: "At Norsk Musikkforlag, we are very proud to have published these works and that they will be available as study scores at the event and to bands across the world after the championship ends.

Under the leadership of editor Kristin Andersen, we have put great effort into ensuring that these publications also uphold a high editorial, and graphical standards.

With Norway hosting this year's European Brass Band Championships, we are especially proud to contribute through these compositions and an honour to see them take their place at EBBC."
