Besson Tuba Artist Les Neish recently returned from a successful trip to Argentina, where he participated in the 18th annual Isla Verde Bronces Festival.
Vibrant programme
Joining fellow clinician and Antoine Curtois artist Miguel Sanchez from Venezuela, Les worked with 30 aspiring low brass players throughout the week. The festival featured a vibrant programme, including a tango performance by course participants, a concert by the all-female brass quintet Quintetas del Brass, and solo recitals by all faculty members.
This year's festival also introduced two new elements: Alexander Technique sessions led by Carolina Barri and a conducting course taught by Lucio Zicos.
Wonderful
Reflecting on his experience, Les told 4BR: "Having been involved with Isla Verde Bronces for many years, it was wonderful to return to this special event. The students are incredibly enthusiastic and dedicated, traveling from all corners of Argentina—some for nearly two days, to attend.
The small town of Isla Verde truly comes alive for a week, filled with concerts, impromptu performances, masterclasses, and social gatherings. I always feel privileged to be a part of this festival and to experience the rich Argentinian culture."
