Spennymoor to host Regional showcase

Four bands will showcase the Area test-pieces they will perform before the big day in Durham

Spennymoor Town Band has arranged a 'Regional Test Piece Showcase' featuring bands competing in the North of England Brass Band Championships.

Billingham Silver (Garrie Harvey); Spennymoor Town (Fiona Casewell); Houghton Brass (Aidan Hodgson) and Fishburn (Ray Farr) will showcase their preparations at Spennymoor Town Hall (DL16 6DG) on Friday 14th March commencing at 7.00pm.

The event is being kindly sponsored by Geneva Instruments and a £500 voucher will be raffled on the night. The music mentor is Danny Brooks

Hugh Stephenson, President of Spennymoor Town Band, told 4BR: "We're very pleased to once again arrange this event and welcoming four bands to perform their respective test pieces.

A special thanks go to Geneva Instruments for their sponsorship and to Danny for crossing the Pennines to be the music mentor for the evening."

Works featured

Fishburn will perform the Championships Section set-work, 'Diversions for Brass Band', whilst Houghton will showcase 'Introduction, Elegy and Caprice'. Spennymoor will perform 'Arkansas' whilst Billingham will showcase 'I, Daedalus'.
