The experienced Maria Beazer will help spearhead Rothwell Temperance's Yorkshire Area challenge in Huddersfield next month.

Rothwell Temperance
The band has welcomed the appointment of their new principal cornet

Rothwell Temperance Band has continued its proactive team building strategy as they prepare for the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Huddersfield next month.

Following the recent arrival of a quartet of signings comes the news that they have now appointed the experienced Maria Beazer as their new principal cornet.

Experience

Having started her musical journey with Thurcroft Welfare Band, Maria has enjoyed tenures with several Yorkshire bands, including Strata Brass, Old Silkstone, and Hepworth. From 2014 to 2021 she played flugel and was latterly principal cornet with Unite the Union.

After leaving Unite Maria was approached by Rothwell MD David Roberts to help the band in the principal cornet role over the festive period. After enjoying the experience, she accepted the invitation to join permanently.

Honoured

Speaking about the appointment she said: "I'm honoured to have been offered this amazing opportunity to become the band's new principal cornet. I'm excited for the new challenges and ventures ahead and working with MD Dave Roberts and the band.

The warm welcome and support I have received from everyone since joining has been outstanding. It has given me my love and passion back for playing. I couldn't ask for a more welcoming group of people."
