Grimethorpe Colliery Band's solo euphonium, Mark Glover recently returned from the USA where he was invited to perform as a guest artist at the 2025 US Army Band 'Pershing's Own' Tuba and Euphonium Workshop in Washington DC.
Featured soloist
Mark was a featured soloist alongside other low brass experts Oystein Baadsvik (pictured), Velvet Brown, Adam Frey and Beth Wiese.
He performed 'Concerto for Euphonium and Winds' by David Gillingham in the final concert at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall. The concert also saw encores which featured all tuba and euphonium players who are members of the various professional US military bands.
Honour
Reflecting on a memorable trip, Mark told 4BR: "It was an honour to be invited to the workshop expertly organised by SFC Jeremy McBride.
The Gillingham Euphonium Concerto is one of my favourites and visiting Washington has been a once in a lifetime experience."
