Pannell steps down from principal role at Haverhill

The respected Tim Pannell has stepped down from the role of principal cornet of Haverhill Band after a 22 year tenure.

Haverhill Silver Band has announced the departure of their respected principal cornet player Tim Pannell.

It brings to a close over 22 year of outstanding commitment in a tenure that not only saw him help them to contest successes (including the London & Southern Counties Championship title in 2022) but also saw him pick many individual accolades and provide a great deal of repertoire through his arranging skills.

Tim will continue to be associated with the organisation in assisting with the Haverhill Youth & Community Band.

First class leader

Commenting on the departure, Haverhill MD Paul Filby, told 4BR: "Tim has been a first-class leader and musician throughout his 22 years as our principal cornet.

There have been many highlights and so many exceptional performances. We Tim for all he has done and at the same time, wish him the best of luck for his music making in the future."

Influential

In response, Tim Pannell said: "Playing for Haverhill for nearly a quarter of a century has been a joy, especially in the time since Paul has been MD. His leadership has been so influential to the development of the band.

The highlight will always be our 2022 Area win. I hope the band continues to go from strength to strength. The organisation does absolutely vital work in its Youth & Community band, and I will continue to assist my parents with the incredible work they do with that group."

Applications

The band has now opened applications for the role prior to, or just after, the Area contest.
