The latest target has been met by the Ratby Co-operative Band organisation in their ambition to extend their musical home.

The Ratby Co-operative Band has announced that it has reached a major milestone in its ambitious fundraising appeal to extend and refurbish their bandroom.

The project aims to preserve the band's heritage and shape its future through developing a modern, inclusive space for musicians and music lovers.

The organisation has reached its first £100,000 aim of an overall target of £183,000.

Community asset

Ratby Band has been nurturing musical talent of all ages in its community since its formation in 1906, although its success has meant that the current facility is no longer able to accommodate everyone.

The renovation and extension will allow the bandroom to serve a wider audience and will improve accessibility for all. It aims to increase rehearsal space, improve the acoustic and rehearsal experience, as well as creating a modern, flexible community space that will ensure accessibility for all.

Beating heart

Band Chairperson John Hauton told 4BR: "Our bandroom is the beating heart of everything we do, but it has long been in need of renovation.

This project is not just about improving facilities for our current members; it's about creating a legacy for the future, so that Ratby Co-operative Band can continue to inspire and engage our community for many years to come."
