Members of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland Childrens' Band recently took part in a Trinity Arts Award scheme as part of their Summer Course in Strathallen.
Under expert tuition the youngsters successfully completed the Trinity College London Discover Arts Award programme exploring various art forms and researching the life and work of former NYBBS Conductor Emeritus, Richard Evans.
Valuable supplement
Designed and planned by the Scottish Brass Band Association trained Trinity College Arts Advisers Gareth Bowman, Carole Ednie and Hayley Dickson it provided a valuable supplement to the course's musical focus.
Plans are now underway for next year's course and potential advancement to the next award level.
Musical life
Speaking about the initiative, SBBA President Carrie Boax said: "The youngsters worked really well together in learning about the arts, conducting interviews and researching the wonderful musical life of Richard Evans.
Powerful memories were shared, giving an insight into how much Richard Evans contributed to the brass band movement and the NYBBS family."
Carrie added that SBBA is looking forward to developing this collaborative working with Trinity College London to offer more opportunities for Scottish brass band members and NYBBS players to grow and celebrate their achievements.

Presentations
Arts Award certificates will be presented by J.J Wheeler, National Development Manager at Trinity College London to band members at the Scottish Youth Band Championships on 23rd November at Perth Concert Hall.
