Huddersfield & Ripponden Band has announced that Musical Director Adam Bell is to step down from the role which he has held for the past nine years. He is to take a break from banding to concentrate on family and work commitments.
During his tenure he led the Yorkshire band with considerable success both on and off the contest stage. Promotion was gained from the Fourth to the Second Section with a trio of National Final appearances along the way — two of which came courtesy of Yorkshire Area victories in 2017 and 2023.
Priviledge
"It has been an absolute privilege to conduct the band," he told 4BR. "I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved together over the past nine years. The band has made musical progress throughout this period whilst developing a wonderful culture based on positive values."
He added: "Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to offer the time and dedication the band deserves and it's only right that I step aside to allow someone the opportunity to build on the excellent foundations we've built since 2015.
Whoever follows will benefit from a welcoming team who are keen to improve, and I wish the whole organisation nothing but success for the future."

Influence
In adding their thanks for his leadership, a band spokesperson said: "Adam's influence on the band has been profound.
Under his baton we have reached new heights and developed a strong sense of unity and purpose. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours but will miss him enormously and will remain close friends."
Final bow
Adam's last engagement will be at the forthcoming Red Admiral Entertainment Contest. 4BR was informed that the process of seeking a new conductor will begin immediately.
