Welsh champion Cory has released further details of its forthcoming Solo & Ensemble Competition which will be on Sunday 20th October at West Monmouth School, Pontypool, Torfaen (NP45YG).
As previously reported on 4BR, the event is partnered by Besson, Wright & Round and World of Sound with the hope that there will be entries in all sections of an event that looks to promote this important part of community band.

Judges
It has now been confirmed that it will be adjudicated by Glyn Williams and Hannah Plumridge for what is aimed at being an inclusive event allowing players of all standards to showcase their talents in a friendly, supportive environment.
The sections will be held in two venue rooms with professional pianists available. The sections are for brass players and tuned percussionist of all ages and abilities.
There are numerous awards and prizes, with cash prizes for winners in all sections including solos and small ensembles up to five players to go with the titles of Cory Band Junior Solo Champion and Cory Band Open Solo Champion.
Entice
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It's a real privilege to be able to bring this type of event back to South Wales, and we are hoping the convenient location and substantial prize packages will entice people from all over the UK and beyond to come and take part."
The Cory Band Open Solo Champion will take home £200 in cash alongside the opportunity to make a professional level 15-minute filmed recording with piano by World of Sound in Northampton and the opportunity to perform a solo in concert with Cory in the future.
The Cory Band Junior Solo Champion will take home £100 cash prize in addition to also having the opportunity to make a professional level 15-minute filmed recording with piano by World of Sound in Northampton and the opportunity to perform with Cory in a concert in the future.
