Trumpet star Mike Lovatt continues to make a fantastic return to full playing fitness following his recent operation on his wrist, with a special solo appearance with Littleport Band at the historic Ely Cathedral this weekend.
It marks the start of a busy period of high-profile events for the player who is currently on top form leading the accompaniment to the musical Guy and Dolls in London.

On 8th August he will lead his Brass Pack alongside singers Matt Ford and Louise Clare Marshall at Birmingham Town Hall for a special celebration of the music of Frank Sintra and Ella Fitzgerald entitled, 'Let's Get Together'.

The Ely Cathedral concert on June 15th (7.30pm) will see Mike perform several solos with the band, including 'Rhapsody for Trumpet', 'MacArthur Park', 'Pure Imagination' and '42nd Street'
World premiere
The event will also feature a world premiere of a new band work composed by Musical Director, Ian Johnson, entitled 'Hereward', which takes inspiration from Hereward the Wake, who is known to have defended Ely against the Norman invaders.
The concert ends with the final movement of Camille Saint-Saens 'Organ Symphony', with the band accompanied by Organ Scholar Stanley Godfrey plus three fanfare trumpets.
