The reopening of Rochdale Town Hall, the Grade 1 listed building that has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment supported by the National Lottery is to be marked by not one, but two concerts by National Champion Black Dyke Band.
Opening night
The Victorian hall was first opened in 1871 — an event that also saw a concert performance by the Queensbury Band. It will now be re-opened on Sunday 3rd March, the day that the band defends its Yorkshire Area title in Huddersfield.
It was planned that its first major concert would feature the band on Wednesday 6th March, but as this quickly sold out the band was asked to provide a second concert the night before (Tuesday 5th March at 7.30pm).
This is now almost sold out too — so fans of the band need to be quick to book their tickets.

Restoration
The restoration that started in 2021 has seen Rochdale Town Hall become a multi-purpose venue for weddings, corporate hire and concerts, with its numerous hall able to accommodate different events. The Great Hall can now seat 350 people in comfort.
The restoration of architecturally significant Town Halls is a long term commitment from the UK Government and will include the neighbouring borough of Kirklees which takes responsibility for Huddersfield Town Hall.
