2023 Denmark National Championships

The Danish Championships take place this weekend in Aarhus with new music challenging the bands wishing to claim a European qualification place.

  The Danish Championships take place this weekend

19 bands will take to the stage at the Musikhuset in Aarhus this weekend for the Danish National Championships (Friday 3rd & Saturday 4the November).

The organising body Dansk Amatør Orkesterforbund celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and has commissioned a brace of new pieces.

Elysian Fields



The Elite Section will feature four bands who will perform a brand new work 'Elysian Fields' by Jacob Vilhelm Larsen on the Friday, followed the next day by the own-choice selections.

The own-choice selections include 'A Tale As Yet Untold' (Sparke); 'Hybercube' (Oliver Waespi); 'Sand & Stars' (Thierry Deleruyelle) and 'Sinfonietta No. 3' (Etienne Crausaz).

The winning band will gain the invitation to the 2024 European Championships.

Open judging

There is open adjudication in all other sections. The four First Section bands will perform Paul Lovatt-Cooper's 'Orion' as well as their own-choice works, with the Second Section bands playing the set-work 'A Journey To The Bermuda Triangle' by Pimpanit Karoonyavanich as well as their own selections.

Mikkel Amsinck has written the test for the Third Section entitled, 'Sunset Reflections' plus their own-choices.
