Glastonbury welcomes new Musical Director

The experienced Steve Rogers has taken on the Musical Director role with Glastonbury Brass.

Glastonbury Brass has announced the appointment of Steve Rogers as their new Resident Musical Director.

Musical career

Steve started his musical career playing in local bands before joining Sun Life Stanshawe in 1990. The University of Salford graduate also played flugel with Brighouse & Rastrick.

He went on to become Head of Music with a secondary school in Amesbury and has continued to play flugel and cornet as well as become Musical Director of Sherborne Town Band. He joined Glastonbury Brass as a player in 2021 before taking on the current role.

Honoured

Speaking about the appointment he said: "I'm honoured to be given this opportunity and it's great to be taking up the baton again. I'm excited to be working with such an exceptional group of musicians and look forward to pushing the band to new heights."

He will lead the band at their forthcoming local Remembrance Day and are currently in preparation for the South West Brass Band Association's 75th Annual Championships in Torquay on the 4th November.
