World Rankings: October update

Foden's takes the number 1 spot following its runner-up result at the Nationals.

The latest Band Supplies — 4barsrest World Rankings see change at the very top for the first time since October 2012, as Foden's takes over the number one spot following its runner-up performance at the National Final in London.

Although missing out narrowly on a historic hat-trick, Foden's will now have the consolation of being the world's leading contesting band at the end of the year, ending Cory's remarkable run of consistency stretching back to 2007!

There were victories for Black Dyke (Championship Section), Ebbw Valley (1st), Whitworth Vale and Healey (2nd), Porthleven Town (3rd) and Newhall (4th) at the National Finals, with all of the successful contenders moving up the table accordingly, while Downshire Brass's victory in the Northern Ireland Championships will provide Michael Alcorn's band with further opportunity for success at the 2025 European Championships in Stavanger.

The other contests taking place since the last update were:

Swiss Open — won by Brass Band 13 Etoiles;
Queensland State Championships — won by Brisbane Excelsior;
Fife Charities — won by Kingdom Brass;
Bolsover Festival of Brass — won by Stannington;
Stanley Brass Band Entertainment Contest — won by Tewit Silver

The next update will follow Brass in Concert and a succession of national events across Europe as the contest season continues apace!
