Following the appointment of their new MD, Simon Jacobs, the Slaithwaite Band has also welcomed several new signings, including a new principal cornet.

Signings

Anna Ferguson brings a wealth of experience after playing with the likes of Reg Vardy, Rothwell Temperance, Marsden Silver, Hepworth and Hammonds.

Meanwhile, Dave Seymour joins on tenor trombone to even more experience to the section.

Over the past decade and half he has played with Meltham, Uppermill and Lindley bands, as well as Sundown Swing, and the Huddersfield Wind Band.

There is also a welcome return to the fold for Andrea Stead on second euphonium after enjoying spells with Yorkshire Imperial and Lindley.

The new signings follow the appointment of Simon Jacobs, who is Head of Music at Greenhead College in Huddersfield and is a graduate of the RNCM in Manchester as well as playing with professional orchestras.

Working hard

Speaking about the new signings, Band Manager Mark Eastwood told 4BR: "Along with finding the right MD we have also been working hard to bring in the right players to take the band forward, and we are delighted to welcome these into the band."
