Simon Jacobs has become the new Musical Director of Slaithwaite Band in Yorkshire.
The University of Manchester and Royal Northern College of Music graduate has enjoyed a busy freelance musical career with many of the UK's leading bands and orchestras. He is also the Musical Director of the Holme Valley Orchestra and a founder member of Flat Cap Brass, a pop brass band with whom he enjoys performing around 80 functions a year.
Delighted
Simon is Head of Music at Greenhead College in Huddersfield having previously been a member of the academic staff at Chetham's School of Music as well as holding a brass teaching position in Melbourne, Australia.
Speaking about his appointment he said: "'I'm delighted to take up the position with Slaithwaite. To have the opportunity to conduct my own village band is something quite special and a real privilege.
I see great potential in the band, and I am looking forward to working with them towards the Yorkshire Area Championships next year."
