Wyss and Marzella to lead new Kingdom era

Thomas Wyss and Katrina Marzella-Wheeler will form the new musical partnership to lead Kingdom Brass.

A new musical leadership team of Thomas Wyss and Katrina Marzella-Wheeler are set to spearhead Kingdom Brass as the Scottish Championship Section band looks to an exciting future.

Band Secretary John Todd said: "Following an intense audition process, the band is happy to announce Katrina Marzella-Wheeler as our new Resident Conductor alongside Thomas Wyss as our new Musical Director."

John continued: "Following the departure of Paul Drury after seven years with the band, we received several high-quality applicants for the Resident Conductor role. The standout person though was Katrina, who not only brings wonderful musicianship to the role, but also the determination and ambition to develop the band.

Kingdom have also announced that Thomas Wyss as the band's new Musical Director following the solid performance at this year's British Open Spring Festival.

John added: "We enjoyed a wonderful five-year association with Ian Porthouse and following our appearance at Blackpool, Thomas was top of our list. We had no hesitation in offering him the role and were delighted when he accepted.

With Thomas and Katrina we can now look forward to exciting future under a fantastic conducting team."

July 18 • Second Trombone vacancy. A friendly Midlands 1st Section Band, Rushden are looking for a Second Trombone player to come and join us. Great repertoire and concerts plus contests twice per year. Every other year, the band goes on tour.
