Foden's Band has announced the trio of shortlisted composers whose works will be masterclassed and developed as part of their major initiative to encourage female composers under the age of 21 to write for the brass band medium.

Launched on International Women's Day and supported by Arts Council England, the National Champion was hugely encouraged by the initial response and the quality of the works.

Three works

The three works that will now be developed further are: 'The Battle' by Mary Lillington; 'Take the Cake' written by Anna Conroy, and 'What a Saviour', composed by Naomi Hill.

On Tuesday 11th July, Foden's will perform the works alongside with spoken feedback on each composition from panel members Lucy Pankhurst and Liz Lane. Prior to the announcement of the winner Foden's will perform a short programme showcasing music from Lucy and Liz

Concert

The concert will be held at Sandbach School Theatre, Crewe Rd (CW11 3NS) on Tuesday 11th July, commencing at 8pm. Entrance is free.
