Jubilee Brass, the Fellowship Band of The Salvation Army's Western Region Division in Ontario in Canada, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
To mark the special anniversary, Bandmaster David Rowsell composed a three-movement suite suitably entitled 'Jubilation.'
Three parts
The first part of the work celebrates the past and utilises the chorus 'All Through the Years', whilst the central section reflects upon the band's ministry and features the melody, 'Make Me a Blessing'. The final movement looks to the future and utilises the song, 'I'll Go in the Strength'.
Incredibly, the average age of the players of Jubilee Brass is a sprightly 77, with members coming from 14 different communities in Southwestern Ontario.

Encouragement and witness
Comprised of Salvationists and like-minded musicians, they rehearse weekly and enjoy regular engagements where they strive to provide spiritual encouragement and witness within both the Salvation Army and the wider community.
Almost from its inception, brass bands have been an integral part of the Salvation Army as a means of accompanying hymns and providing music for various community events. In recent years, fellowship bands — like Jubilee — have become an increasingly popular form of Salvation Army ensembles.
