Newbould steps down from Old Silkstone role

George Newbould has stepped down from the role of Musical Director of the Yorkshire based Old Silkstone Band.

Old Silkstone
The band has thanked George for his work with them

Old Silkstone Band has announced the resignation of their MD, George Newbould due to a change in his personal circumstances and existing playing commitments.

Since taking on the role in 2020 he spearheaded a rejuvenation of the Yorkshire band, leading a series podium finishes at the NEMBBA, Yorkshire Area and Buxton Festival contests.

Transformed

Band Chairperson Ian Askey told 4BR: "George has transformed the band in such a short space of time. His rehearsals have been great and made really enjoyable by working us hard with great attention to detail and getting the best out of us.

He will be greatly missed, we wish him well and we look forward to our paths crossing again in the future."

Thanks

In response George said: "I would like to thank the band for their commitment, musicianship and friendship over the past 3 and a half years. They have worked so hard to make themselves better but to also help me improve my own musicianship.

I am gutted to be leaving such a strong team, but I thank them for their understanding. I will cherish the memories I have made and to wish them the very best for the future. I will be no stranger to the band."
