Jack Lythaby take on the solo horn role with the Welsh champion

Welsh champion Tredegar has announced that Jack Lythaby has taken on the permanent role as its solo horn player.

The RWCM&D graduate has been a member of the band since 2018 and has already performed in the role on a number of occasions on the contest and concert stage.

A former member of Lydbrook Band, the National Children's Band and National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, he has also gained notable solo and ensemble successes. He takes on the position from Ross Dunne who has moved from Wales.

Mark

Speaking about the appointment, Tredegar MD, Ian Porthouse said: "Our thanks go to Ross who has been a wonderful player who we all wish the very best.

This though is the culmination of Jack's progress since he joined in 2018. He has worked exceptionally hard in becoming an integral part of the band, gaining invaluable experience and enabling his playing talent to flourish. I'm delighted that the role is now his and I know he is determined to make his mark."

Delighted

In response Jack said: "I'm delighted. The experiences already gained playing with Tredegar and a great horn team have been incredible — and there are plenty more to come."
