The Leicestershire Co-op Band has announced the appointment of Ben Hewlett-Davies as its new Musical Director.

The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduate comes to the Midlanders with a wealth of musical experience as a multi-instrumentalist player and conductor with the likes of Bestwood Black Diamonds, City of Birmingham and Shirebrook Miners Welfare Bands. He graduated in 2015.

Excited

Ben has also become well known as an arranger with several his works being performed in concerts and contests. A location change has presented Ben with the opportunity to work with Leicestershire Co-op Band, who told 4BR that they were "really excited for the future"as they welcomed him.

His first official outing with the baton will be on Saturday 10th June as part of the band's ongoing concert series.
