The University of North Florida has announced that is has places open for its 12th annual Conducting Symposium.
The two-day symposium takes place at the campus in Jacksonville, Florida on the weekend of the 9th & 10th September.
Hosted by UNF Director of Bands, Dr. Erin Bodnar, participants will work with UNF School of Music faculty, plus special guest clinicians Dr. Emily Moss (Director of Bands, New Mexico State University), Dr. Brittan Braddock (Director of Bands, Mercer University) and composer and conductor Dr. Tom Davoren, who lives and works in the USA as Director of Bands at Benedictine College in Kansas.
Music educators
Speaking about the event, Tom told 4BR: "The course is designed for current music educators of all levels and college students.
It will include conducting coaching and practicum sessions, as well as master classes and presentations on the essential ingredients for becoming a complete teacher and conductor; score preparation, creating an effective rehearsal environment, gesture and movement, and wind/brass/percussion pedagogy."

Conductors can attend either as an active participant, receiving podium time with the University of North Florida Wind Symphony and video reviews to take home, or as observers, who will benefit from attending the weekend's presentations and conducting sessions.
