Have you got a second for Wychavon?

There has been a great response to entries for the popular contest — although a few extra Second Section bands would be welcome.

Wychavon
The event takes place on 4th November

The organisers of the 2023 Wychavon Festival of Brass Championships have told 4BR that they have had an excellent response in overall entry numbers, although they are hoping to attract more Second Section bands to the event in Evesham later this year.

They currently have over 50 bands entered in the Championship, First, Third and Fourth Section competitions, but need a boost in the Second Section.

The event takes place on Saturday November 4th. The closing date for entries is 8th September.

Response

Speaking to 4BR, Contest Secretary, Val Trim said: "We are delighted with the response from bands, but just a bit curious to why we haven't quite had our usual numbers as yet for the Second Section.

There is still plenty of time and we know bands are busy but we don't want anyone to miss out by not getting their entry in early."

Prize money

Val added: "The facilities we offer are great, we have generous prize money on offer (£500 first prize) and the audiences are always supportive, so whatever section you are in, and especially the Second Section, please get in touch. We'll be delighted to hear from you!"
