Centenary preparations in hand for ODBBA celebrations.

A special band, world premieres and music to cater for all tastes will help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association in June.

Preparations are underway for the Centenary Concert of the Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association (ODBBA) which will take place on Sunday 11th June at Exeter Hall, Kidlington.

Special band

A special band led by MD Paul Norley made up of players from member and local bands such as Kidlington Concert Brass, Jubilee Brass (Oxford), Chinnor, Witney, City of Oxford, Towcester Studio, Brackley & District, Oxford Cherwell Brass, Wantage Silver, Wantage Concert Brass, Abbey Brass (Abingdon), Bletchingdon, Marsh Gibbon, Cold Ash, and Kennington, will provide the music.

In a further link, the programme itself will feature music made by people either currently or previously members of local bands such as Georgia French, Ron Glynn, Nigel Hall, David Taylor, Guy James, Des Stimpson, Neil Brownless, Jim Alder, Ken Smith, David Roberts, Karen Burton and Steve Sizeland.

Also being featured will be the world premiere of 'Straits of Peace' by Peter M. Jones which won the ODBBA Centenary Composition Competition, as well as three other premieres4BR
