Tameside Whit Friday venues confirmed

There will be nine stops on the Whit Friday route map this year for bands wishing to boost their contest coffers.

  There are nine contest stop offs this year in Tameside

The Tameside Whit Friday contest organisers have announced details of the nine contest venues for its events to be held on Friday 2nd June.

Run by the Friends of Tameside Whit Friday with overall prize sponsorship from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council bands will be able to compete at Broadoak, Carrbrook, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield Tame Valley, Heyrod, Hurst Village, Stalybridge Labour Club and Top Mossley.

Prizes

There are a vast array of individual prizes on offer at each of the venues, plus a potential hefty overall prize package from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council which has in previous years included £2,000 plus the Tameside Rosebowl Trophy for the overall champion (podium prizes of £1,000 and £750) as well overall section, local and youth awards.

Overall awards are made on the basis of the six best contest results.

Fantastic sound

In giving the most recent update of its events on its website, recently appointed Chairperson Cat Tomlinson stated: "On behalf of all our contests, thank you to my predecessor Adam for all his hard work over the years.

I'm excited for this year's contest and looking forward to seeing everyone's efforts come together on 2nd of June when the fantastic sound of brass will be filling the streets of Tameside & beyond!"
