Following on from opening their 10th anniversary year celebrations at the RNCM Brass Band Festival in January, the A4 Brass Quartet has announced details of its latest performances — ones that will certainly rack up the air miles.
Liverpool, Osaka and Palanga
It begins close to home in May with a concert at the prestigious Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Music Room as part of their 'Close Up' series. The programme includes music by Strauss, Bruckner and Vaughan-Williams as well as Doreen Carwithen, Evelyn Glennie and Astor Piazolla.
24 hours later they will fly to Osaka in Japan to arrive in time to compete in the Osaka International Chamber Music Festa at the impressive Mie Pref. Fine Arts Center.
A dozen of the world's finest chamber ensembles have been chosen to compete at the event, with A4 the only UK entrant in pursuit of the £15,000 first prize.
The ensemble finishes May in Palanga, Lithuania, where they have been invited to appear at the Amber Wind Festival.
There they will deliver an afternoon chamber music masterclass before performing an evening concert at the Palanga Kurhaus Hall, where they will also be joined for two items by the Palanga Orchestra Brass Quintet.
