The memory of a fine bandsman is to be celebrated later this month with a special concert aimed at raising awareness in the battle again bowel cancer.
Steve Munn (above right), a stalwart member of Ware Brass and Potters Bar Band in Hertfordshire, died in December 2022 from the disease aged just 54.
A talented tuba player, he played in the band alongside wife Sarah and sons Jim and Jonny for a number of years.
Brassed Off with Cancer
The tragic loss however has spurred the family and friends to help ensure no others suffer a loss in such a way, and wanting to make a great sound about it (never a noise with a brass band) they have come up with the special 'Brassed Off with Cancer' concert to celebrate his life and raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
It will take place on Saturday 29th April at Queenswood School, Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire at 7.00pm with over 60 players taking to the stage to perform many of Steve's personal favourite works as well as well as give the world premiere of a new work entitled, 'Starlings' from composer Alan Fernie.
