New trio heads to Longridge

The Bolsover Entertainment Champion welcomes three new signings.

Longridge took the honours at this year's Bolsover Festival of Brass

2022 Bolsover Entertainment champion Longridge Band has made a trio of new signings to strengthen the ranks in readiness for their Championship Section return in 2023.

Signings

Former solo horn, Jamie Gordon, who depped with his old band for the Bolsover win, returns after also enjoying a four-year tenure at Mossley St John's. He comes back on first horn.

Meanwhile, Michael Wallis joins on tuned percussion and timpani after relocating from Scotland where he played with Johnstone Brass, whilst Olivia Hurst comes in on solo cornet from Lostock Hall. A student at the RNCM studying with Dr Roger Webster, Olivia has been a member of the National Youth Band of Great Britain and principal cornet of Lostock and Lancashire Youth Band.

Great position

Speaking about the signings, MD, Mark Peacock told 4BR: "This trio of signings shows we are in a great position as we move into 2023 and the challenges at the Area and British Open Spring Festival.

The band is without doubt in the strongest position at any time in 12 years at the helm and we are all so excited about the future."

The new players will make their debut in a local concert later this month.
