Tuba boost for Young Tubas at RNCM

Pete Cowlishaw will join Les Neish to help inspire the next generation of young tuba players at the RNCM in Manchester.

Les Neish
Les Neish has inspired countless young tuba players

The highly respected tuba player Pete Cowlishaw will join his former teacher Les Neish in leading and delivering a series of Young Tuba Workshops at the Royal Northern College of Music this academic year.

Since completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music and most recently, as a postgraduate at the Royal Northern College of Music, Pete has enjoyed a varied career as a performer and educator.

He has performed with the likes of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras, and after completing a fellowship in chamber music at the Royal Academy he won the Worshipful Company of Musician Brass Prize, has been a featured soloist with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and won numerous awards in chamber music and as a soloist at the National Eisteddfod.

The next session is Sunday 27th November (10.00am to 1.00pm)4BR

Great initiative

Speaking about the link, Les Neish told 4BR: "It's super news that Pete has accepted the opportunity to be part of this great initiative and to be able to link up with him again.

The Young Tubas project is steadily building back up again after the enforced 2 year break and having Pete onboard will only help this even more."

The next session is Sunday 27th November (10.00am to 1.00pm)
