4BR has been informed that the partnership between David Purkiss and Ratby Co-operative Band has come to an end.
During his six year tenure he helped the band develop into a highly competitive top section contender at both local and national contesting levels, including leading them to promotion to the Grand Shield.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "All at Ratby would like to wish David well as he moves to new musical and professional projects, in particular with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery."
In response David added: "Ratby has been a huge part of my life for the past six years, and I'm proud to have been the Musical Director of such a fantastic banding organisation.
I've had a wonderful time and have so many highlights, including getting back into the Grand Shield. We have worked hard, but the rewards have been phenomenal."

Dedication
Reflecting on David's departure, Artistic Director Mareika Gray added: "I thoroughly enjoyed working with Dave. His enthusiasm was infectious and his dedication uncompromising."
Meanwhile, Band Chairman John Hauton echoed the sentiment: "We would all like to thank Dave for all of the support given to each of the Ratby Bands. His tireless work has seen us progress and grow, in particular through a challenging global pandemic.
He leaves us in a great position for future achievements and we wish him well."
