The three players have boosted the band's ranks ahead of their 2023 promotion.

The Shirley Band has strengthened its ranks ahead of its promotion to the Midlands Area Championship Section in 2023.

Joining are principal euphonium, Richard Corser-Wallace, Daniel Lucas on flugel and Alec Banner on percussion.

Signings

Richard joins on solo euphonium having played with several bands including a successful tenure at Staffordshire Band. He was previously solo baritone with Shirley Band between 2003-2011.

Meanwhile, Daniel relocated to the Birmingham area to complete his PhD studies and joins from Crofton Silver Band, where he played since 2011.

The trio is completed by Alec Banner, a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, who has joined from Shipston Town Band. He has won numerous solo competitions on cornet and percussion and has also attended various online and residential courses with the National Children's Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra Inspire.

Delighted

Speaking about the signings, Band Secretary, Sally Middleton told 4BR: "We're delighted to have three talented players join us as we head into 2023 and the Championship Section.

We are also preparing for the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association competition in late November as well as a number of concerts."
