There was a great atmosphere and plenty of wonderful music making to be heard as the Innerleithen Youth Brass Band Contest in Scotland was held for the first time in three years on the weekend.
Held at St. Ronan's School, there was an entry of six bands from across the Borders and the Lothians region for adjudicator Gareth Bowman to enjoy.
Fun and support
The aim of the day was to promote music in a fun and supportive environment with Gareth providing excellent feedback to all bands following the performances.
Maroon Brass took the honours in the Preparatory Section, with Galashiels Youth coming out on top in the Novice Section and Whitburn Youth leading the way in the Development Section.
Brilliant day
Organiser Rebecca Lindsay told 4BR: "It was a brilliant day of music making from all the young players and we were so pleased to welcome all these youth ensembles to Innerleithen. The quality was excellent, and it was great to see so many people come out to support the youngsters."
