Neil Jowett had a 50 year association with Lindley Band

The Lindley Band will be hosting a special celebration concert recognising the contribution made to the banding movement of Neil Jowett.

Neil passed away in in January this year and was a former Musical Director and President of the Yorkshire Band.

In all he dedicated well over 50 years of his life to the band as well as playing with a number of other leading bands such as Black Dyke and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Special concert

The special massed band concert, featuring his favourite music will take place on Sunday 19th June (2.00pm) at the Oastler Building at Huddersfield University.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band has extended an invitation to either to perform or to join the audience to any current or past players from Lindley Band, and to other friends of his from his banding career.

There will be opportunity both in the interval (where refreshments will be available) and after the concert, for the band and audience to remember, reminisce and celebrate the life of this truly great musician and gentleman of banding."

Donations

Donations collected during the event will be in aid of 'Headcase', the brain tumour cancer charity supported by Neil's family.
