Whitburn and Kirkintilloch open doors ahead of Spring Festival challenge

There are two free open rehearsals to enjoy this evening in Scotland as Whitburn and Kirkintilloch showcase their preparations on 'Dynasty' and 'Freedom' ahead of their Spring Festival challenge.

  Whitburn and Kirkintilloch will head to Blackpool's Winter Gardens this weekend.

Two Scottish bands hoping to either to claim their place at the British Open or to take a step closer to Symphony Hall have announced their 'open' rehearsal plans for this evening (Wednesday 4th May).

Dynasty

Grand Shield contenders and current Scottish champion, Whitburn will be holding their open event under Director of Music Prof Nicholas Childs, between 7.00pm and 9.00pm on Wednesday, May 4th at West Calder High School in West Lothian. Entry is free with the band working on the test-piece 'Dynasty' by Peter Graham.

Freedom

Meanehile, the Kirkintilloch Band is also rehersing on Wednesday May 4th conducted by Steven Mead.

The band have been enjoying their preparations for their performance of 'Freedom' by Hubert Bath for the Senior Cup. They will perform the test piece as well as some other concert items at Glasgow City Centre Salvation Army, 1 Houldsworth Street 
Glasgow (G3 8ED) It is a 7.30pm start and the admission is free.

Tintwistle Band

January 1 • We have a vacancy for an Eb bass player to complete our bass section.. We are looking forward to competing in the 2nd section Midlands area contest in March 2026.. We rehearse Monday&Thursday 8-10pm in our own bandroom under the baton of our MD Jim Henson.


Croy Silver Band

January 1 • Croy Silver Band currently has contest vacancies on Cornet and Percussion, but is always happy to accommodate enthusiastic new players in any section of the band.


Welwyn Garden City Band

December 30 • We are a friendly & sociable Second Section Band with an eye on the 2026 Areas. We have vacancies for a FRONT ROW CORNET player and PERCUSSIONISTS.. Our MD is Will Douglas and we rehearse in Welwyn Garden City on Sunday evenings from 7.00-9.00pm.
