The death has been announced of the popular bandsman Alan Bruton, who passed away on April 14th.

A family member told 4BR: "It's with great sadness that we report the loss of Alan who played and loved brass bands from the age of 8.

Beginning in school bands, he went on to play cornet and soprano with Nailsworth Silver Band before taking to the love of his musical life which was the euphonium.

Alan went on to play for Flowers before returning to Nailsworth Silver where he also became chairman, whilst in more recent years he played euphonium with the Wotton Band."
