With the European Brass Band Championships due to take place in Birmingham at the end of the month 4BR continues its series of interviews with players, conductors and personalities who have made their mark on the event since its inception in 1978.
Today we are joined by conductor Michael Bach who led Brass Band Burgermusik Luzern from Switzerland to a stunning triumph in Perth in Scotland in 2014.
It was one of the closest contests in the history of the event — the top four bands separated by just three points.
Michael talks about his family connection to the event, his first European success in the B Section and that memorable victory — as well as what he believes it meant for Swiss banding.
