The National Youth Band of Great Britain is currently putting the final touches to its programme for its end of course concert to be held at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday evening (16th April — 7.00pm).
Celebration
The thematic thread is one of 'Celebration' — not only of the 70th anniversary of the organisation, but also of its well established principles towards diversity and inclusion.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "In addition to celebrating our own return to the concert stage, the music enforces the ethos that underpins the very core of the National Youth Band as an organisation.
We offer the warmest of welcomes to Huddersfield for a concert that we hope will have something for everyone."
Premieres
The Easter Course has been taking place at Harrogate Ladies College under the Norwegian conductor Irene Anda with a programme that includes Gilbert Vinter's 'Spectrum' and Peter Graham's 'Dynasty', as well as world premieres of 'In Many Lands: The Adventures of Mrs. Seacole' by Paul Saggers and 'Flight' by Louisa Trewartha.
Maurice Hamer's 'Die Alpen' — that evokes a metaphorical ascent to a peak of humane communal enlightenment is also to be performed, whilst guest trombone soloist, Grethe Tonheim will perform a trio of contrasting works.
