Jonathan Beatty takes over the helm at Unite the Union Band

Unite the Union Band has announced the appointment of Jonathan Beatty as their new Music Director.

Jonathan took on the role on an interim basis in mid-January after being asked to conduct the band at the NEMBBA and Yorkshire Area contests.

Very impressed

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We were very impressed with Jonathan's approach to rehearsals and his drive to get the very best out of the band.

This was evident in winning the NEMBBA contest in February and then in delivering a fine performance of 'Contest Music' at the Yorkshire Area in Huddersfield to ensure we maintained our championship section status."

Great rapport

In response to the news, the new MD said: "The chance to work with Unite and a fabulous group of great people was a super opportunity. We have stablished a great rapport and there is a real buzz about the band in rehearsal and on stage."

Band Chairperson Melissa Maddison added: "We are delighted by the appointment. Jonathan has already made such a positive impact and we now look forward to the forthcoming Spring Festival in Blackpool and a busy concert schedule."
