Community call to help remember sacrifice...

Players from brass bands throughout the country will mark Remembrance Sunday this year.

Billard
Sarah Billard will be joined by many other players in performing 'The Last Post' this weekend.

Communities across the country will once again pay their respects on the weekend to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflict in service to their country.

The Last Post

And despite the restrictions imposed by the Cornavirus pandemic, players from bands will also play their part — be at by playing 'The Last Post' as a member of the Remembrance Services allowed on Sunday, or, as like trainee nurse Sarah Billard of Rotherham, outside her home.

Like countless others the commitment to perform in recognition of the sacrifice forms a core part of community brass banding cross the world, with Sarah taking the opportunity recently to practice on a vintage bugle in a park in nearby Swinton.

Remembrance Sunday

The annual Remembrance Sunday march past the Cenotaph in London will not take place this year, with events throughout the UK in particular curtailed to small official events.
