Curtin raised on new release from Foden's euph star

The much anticipated new CD release from Gary Curtin is now available to enjoy.

Eiretime
The new release has been eagerly anticipated by the player's worldwide fans

'Eire Time' by euphonium star Gary Curtin is the latest CD release to be launched on the leading online streaming platform Wobplay.com.

Speaking about the release which can bought as a CD from Gary as well as being downloaded from the www.wobplay.com website the Foden's player told 4BR:

"Releasing an album has been something I have wanted to do for such a long time. I'm delighted it's finally been released and some new music can find its way to the euphonium repertoire."

He added: "Being the main driver on my own release has meant I could take a few liberties on the programming. A beautiful new commission by Paul Lovatt-Cooper for our little boy, Jamie, 'From Your Smile' is one of the most special pieces for me, but I hope listeners will have their favourites too.

Major works

Gary said that there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy with the two major works offering distinct musical contrasts.

"Bert Appermont's 'Cantiphonia' by Bert Appermont has been specially arranged for the recording by Paul McGhee and is a large scale work of lyrical and rhythmic intensity.

Meanwhile, 'Deep Surge' by Tom Harrold has an almost physical intensity with both band and soloist fighting it out for domination."

Favourites

Some of his own favourites that have made him one of the most popular euphonium soloists in the banding movement have also been included though.

"I couldn't release a recording without the pieces that I have become known for performing such as 'Eire Time', 'Vallflickens Dans' and 'Carnival of Venus'. There is also a new band arrangement for 'Dance of the Goblins' which Simon Oliver put together for me — so I hope it ticks all the boxes!"

This is a perfect demonstration of passion, devotion and lyrical beautyWorld of Brass

Perfect demonstration

Speaking about the release World of Brass added: "This is a perfect demonstration of passion, devotion and lyrical beauty. 'Eire Time is a truly captivating listening experience and broadens the spectrum of what the euphonium can achieve.

The repertoire stretches from his virtuoso set pieces, known to brass band audiences throughout the world, to a brand-new concerto especially commissioned for this album."
