The death has been announced of Graham Martin, a former player and conductor of the Royal Buckley Town Band.

Graham grew up in Buckley and played with his home band a young age, starting on flugel, before moving to trombone and finally, euphonium.

Player and conductor

After a successful tenure as Music Director — including leading the band to the Second Section National Finals in 1992 and winning the North Wales Rally title he went on to enjoy playing tenures at Lostock Hall, Coppull & Standish, Skelmersdale and Blackpool Brass.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Graham never lost his love for Royal Buckley Band. Our thoughts are with his wife, Hilary and family at this very sad time. A great friend, he will be greatly missed."
