The highly respected composer and arranger Phillip Littlemore has recently completed the creation of two new series for the international music publisher, Peters Edition.

As Series Editor and Curator for Concert Band he has just produced eight works; two by one of the UK's leading contemporary composers, Jonathan Dove, four by the young Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds and two classic pieces from the renowned Penguin Cafe Orchestra. It will be followed in Spring 2021 by a brass band series.

New series

Speaking about the venture he told 4BR: "I was delighted when Edition Peters indicated their intention of creating a brand new series for concert band and brass band, and thrilled when they asked me to take on the role of series editor and arranger."

Edition Peters is a major force in music publishing and represents some of the finest contemporary composers and catalogues throughout the world.

Brass band publications

He added: "The brass band series will launch with three Esenvalds arrangements — 'only In Sleep' 'Stars' and one not available in the concert band series, 'O Salutaris Hostia'.

Again, these pieces receive regular arrangement requests and so Peters, and their collaborating publisher Musica Baltica, have decided to create 'official' arrangements by me. It is a very exciting venture and things will be done properly ahead of the Spring launch with further titles added."
