This evening's Besson 'Fridays at Home' (Friday 2nd October — 6.00pm BST) features star trombonists, John Barber and Davur Juul Magnussen.
The solo trombone of Foden's Band and the first trombonist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra will join the team of Philip Harper, Steven Mead and Roger Webster for a friendly chat about their musical lives and opinions.
Davur hails from the Faroe Islands and we hear about his love of playing in caves, and since the lockdown, the slightly less evocative, but essential 'modern day' equivalent of stairwells!
We also gain insight into his acclaimed playing with the orchestra and hear about some online challenges he's set brass players. He also reveals more about his love of brass bands and even find a connection between him and Roger!
Meanwhile, John tells us more about his ground breaking work in musical education in Cheshire, how he came to join Foden's — a link that started with a curious wave across the cafeteria at the RNCM in Manchester a few years ago…
All this and we get to hear plenty of brilliant playing on video excerpts, enjoy a clip of Foden's and their winning performance of Martin Ellerby's 'Electra' at the British Open.
All this and plenty more in another evening of chat, humour, insight and information from the Besson trio and their guests on Episode 7 of the series
