Despite the cancellation of the 2020 British Open Championship, there will still be plenty of outstanding brass entertainment on offer this weekend from Symphony Hall, Birmingham — starting on Friday night (11th September — 7.00pm) with a special Virtual Brass Gala Concert.
Performances
Introduced by 4BR Editor Iwan Fox, it will feature specially pre-recorded performances by 2019 champion Cory and Black Dyke alongside the next generation of brass musicians graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and topped by cult brass heroes Mnozil Brass.
To be broadcast on the Symphony Hall YouTube and Facebook sites as well as 4BR and the official Monzil Brass Facebook site which has over 100,000 followers, it is sure to reach a worldwide audience.
Cory and Black Dyke have both recorded brand-new individual performances for the concert event during lockdown and will join forces to round things off with a digitally mastered massed-band performance.
Amazing talents
Meanwhile, viewers can also sit back and enjoy the amazing talents of Mnozil Brass who will be premiering previously unreleased footage from their 2017 Cirque World Tour, which came to Symphony Hall in 2017.
In addition, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire have commissioned composer Ryan Linham to create a brand new composition for the brass players who have graduated this year, entitled, 'Legend of the Lockdown Leavers'.
