The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has confirmed the appointment of the experienced Richard Milton as its new Operations Manager.

The Regional Secretary of the North West Regional Championships takes over from Alun F Williams who incorporated the role into his interim administrative leadership following the death of Philip Biggs and which brought the organisation back on track after a period of instability.

He now steps down and it is understood Richard will work in a clearly defined role alongside the rest of the NYBBGB team to ensure it continues to offer students an outstanding musical experience on its courses.

Future

Speaking about the appointment, Mark Bromley, CEO told 4BR: "This is about building an organisation to secure the band's future. With more than 30 years' experience in music education, I'm very pleased to have Richard on board.

He will be an invaluable addition in continuing the great work started by Alun who we owe a great debt of gratitude."

I have always been an ardent follower of the NYBBGB and all that it does. I'm really very proud to have been given this opportunity at such an exciting time in the band's historyRichard Milton

Proud

In response Richard Milton added: "I have always been an ardent follower of the NYBBGB and all that it does. I'm really very proud to have been given this opportunity at such an exciting time in the band's history."

Alun F Williams added: "It's been an absolute thrill to have served the organisation the last 12 months and, due to the COVID pandemic which I wasn't expecting, to have been a part of the development team for the truly inspiring NYBB at Home online initiative, a replacement for the Summer residential course."
